PSA: Reminder, kids won’t be bringing home Mother’s Day crafts from school this year. Be prepared.
Here is a DIY Mother’s Day body scrub that the kids can make from items in your pantry. All items are available at the grocery store or a pharmacy. If you’re lucky and place your order NOW, Amazon should deliver them in time.
Mother’s Day DIY Body Scrub
For: All Skin Types
Recommended Use: Once a week, or as needed.
Ingredients:
1 cup organic cane sugar
¼ cup coconut oil
¼ cup sunflower or almond oil
A few drops of vanilla essential oil (or oil of your choice)
Combine the cane sugar, coconut oil, sunflower oil, essential oil in the mason jar. Cover with lid and shake well to mix.
Directions:
Wet your skin and apply the scrub starting at the feet. Work your way upward and inward toward the heart. Concentrate on rough spots like knees and elbows. Rinse well, but to preserve the moisturizing properties, do not wash off with soap.
Why It is Great for Mom’s Skin:
Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids and lauric acid, which is antifungal and antibacterial. This makes it a wonderful moisturizer for skin. It solidifies at room temperature, so when using it for masks or scrubs you may need to melt it. Just place it in a small bowl and nest the bowl in a bowl of warm water.
Sunflower oil is rich in vitamins A, D, and E and makes a great base for body oils.
Almond oil is brimming with Vitamin E. It makes a great base for body oils and massaging it on the skin below the eyes will help reduce dark circles.
Cane sugar will provide gentle exfoliation.
